PRODUCT OVERVIEW

What it is and how it works

The Lunar is a small espresso scale with a real-time flow-rate display and configurable automatic brewing modes. The current model has a rechargeable USB-C battery; Acaia lists 30–40 hours of continuous use depending on settings.

Acaia lists dimensions of 105 × 105 × 15 mm and a maximum capacity of 2,000 g. Measure the actual flat space on your machine’s drip tray, including room for your cup and any movement of the tray.

CHECK BEFORE YOU BUY

Compatibility at a glance

It can sit on a machine’s drip tray only when the tray has a stable, level area large enough for the scale and clearance for a cup. Dimensions are the most useful compatibility check.

01

Espresso drip trays

Allow at least a 105 × 105 mm footprint and 15 mm scale height, then check that a cup can still fit under the group. Tray rails, rounded corners, and removable cup stands can reduce usable space.

02

Portafilters

Acaia says a standard portafilter is not designed to sit directly on the Lunar. The Lunar Weighing Plate is a separate accessory for this use; it is not included in the scale box.

03

Other weighing

The scale can weigh coffee and cups up to its 2,000 g limit. Keep liquid away from openings and follow Acaia’s cleaning instructions; water-resistant does not mean submersible.

PRACTICAL GUIDE

Fit and care checks

  1. Measure the machine’s usable tray area with the drip tray installed, and check the available vertical space beneath the group head.
  2. Place the scale on a level surface and keep the load below 2,000 g. The flow indicator is intended to show extraction flow in real time.
  3. Use the included heat-resistant pad where appropriate. Clean and dry the scale according to Acaia’s manual; do not submerge it.
