PRODUCT OVERVIEW

What it is and how it works

The Normcore Spring-Loaded Tamper V4 uses a central spring shaft and a leveling plate that rests on the basket rim as you press. Normcore includes 15 lb, 25 lb, and 30 lb springs; the 25 lb spring is installed by default.

The official product page offers ten base sizes from 39 mm to 58.5 mm. Size labels alone do not guarantee fit in every basket, so check the inner diameter and the specific compatibility notes before choosing.

CHECK BEFORE YOU BUY

Compatibility at a glance

The V4 is sold in separate base sizes. Choose against the basket’s measured inside diameter and the maker’s model notes; there is no one-size-fits-all version.

01

54 mm Breville / Sage baskets

Normcore lists a 53.3 mm option for 54 mm baskets and says it is compatible with many Barista Pro and Barista Espresso models. Measure the basket and confirm the exact machine and basket version before ordering.

02

Other named sizes

Normcore lists 51.5 mm for specified La Pavoni Europiccola and Professional Millenium models made after 2000, 49.7 mm for ROK Espresso Maker GC / Presso, and 45.5 mm for Flair Pro / Pro 2. Check the maker’s fit chart for the remaining sizes.

03

Portafilter dimensions

Do not select by the machine’s grouphead or portafilter lock diameter alone. Compare the tamper’s actual base size with the basket’s internal diameter and leave enough clearance for the leveling collar.

PRACTICAL GUIDE

Measure first, then tamp

  1. Measure the basket’s internal diameter and choose the V4 size recommended by Normcore for your exact basket. If uncertain, ask the machine or basket maker before buying.
  2. Choose one of the included springs for the feel you prefer. Normcore advises pressing while turning clockwise to help produce a level tamp.
  3. Wipe the tamper after use. Normcore says not to put it in a dishwasher, use strong detergent, or soak it in hot water.
