PRODUCT OVERVIEW

What it is and how it works

The CHEMEX Classic Six Cup is a manual pour-over coffeemaker made from borosilicate glass, with a polished wood collar and leather tie. CHEMEX lists 30 US fluid ounces of capacity; its cup measure is five ounces, so the stated cup count is not a standard household mug count.

CHEMEX specifies its Bonded filters for this size: FP-1, FC-100, FS-100, or FSU-100. The six-cup brewer is a standalone manual brewer and does not fit onto an automatic coffee machine.

CHECK BEFORE YOU BUY

Compatibility at a glance

Use a CHEMEX Bonded filter code listed for the six-cup size. This is not a universal cone-filter or machine attachment; use the filter shape CHEMEX specifies.

01

Listed filter codes

CHEMEX lists FP-1, FC-100, FS-100, and FSU-100 Bonded filters for this six-cup Classic. Check the filter package code before purchase; three-cup half-moon filters are a different shape and size.

02

Capacity and serving size

The maker lists 30 US fluid ounces and measures a cup as five ounces. Choose a smaller pour if needed; CHEMEX says you can brew less by adjusting your coffee and water.

03

Standalone manual brewer

This is a manual glass brewer, not a replacement carafe for a drip machine. It does not attach to an espresso, capsule, or automatic brewer.

PRACTICAL GUIDE

Prepare the matching bonded filter

  1. Select one of the CHEMEX filter codes listed for the six-cup brewer and open it into a cone with three filter layers on one side.
  2. Place the thicker three-layer side against the pouring spout, then add medium-coarse coffee and brew with a careful manual pour.
  3. After brewing, remove the paper filter and grounds. For dishwasher cleaning, remove the wood collar and rawhide tie first, as CHEMEX directs.
